TEFROKA® PU 1-L plus TEFROKA® KH-Filler (English Version)Application instruction for heavy polyurethane mortar for inside and outside decks |
This application instruction supplies information for the user and does not claim to be complete. The actual object conditions need to be determined and considered during application. The instructions given in this document do not justify any liability claims against the author or manufacturer of the mentioned products. For handling and use of the materials the latest safety data sheets have to be observed.
TEFROKA® PU-1-L filled with TEFROKA® KH-Filler can be used to level larger deck irregularities for polyurethane coverings on inside and outside decks, for ceramic tile floors in galley areas as well as for ramps and coved skirtings.
TEFROKA® PU-1-L (2-component pails optionally available in 9,1 kg or 19,5 kg/unit)
TEFROKA® KH-Filler (25 kg/bag)
TEFRO®prime EP 30 (7 kg/unit)
optional:
thickening agent SYLOTHIX® 51 (10 kg/bag)
TEFROKA® PU-1-L is a polyurethane coating and therefore sensitive to humidity in opened pails. The materials is insensitive to frost however has to be warmed up to approx. 12 - 15 °C overnight when stored at temperatures below 5 °C. Shelf life is 12 months in tightly closed pails. TEFROKA KH Filler has to be protected from humidity and has an unlimited shelf life.
Steel/outside decks:
Existing paint coats of unknown composition, bad adhesion, rust creepage etc have to be completely removed by dust-free blasting (shot blasting) according to P Sa 2 1/2. The areas have to be pretreated with 2 coats of TEFRO®prime EP 30. Inside decks as well as outside decks primed with intact 2-comp. EP anticorrosive primer of sufficient adhesion and strength have to be cleaned and slightly grinded. Remove grinding dust. Apply one coat of TEFRO®prime EP 30.
Aluminium decks:
Aluminium deck areas have to be degreased and slightly grinded using an angle grinder (roughened, removal of oxide film). Remove grinding dust. Afterwards apply one coat of TEFRO®prime EP 30.
Galvanized steel decks:
Galvanized steel decks have to be grinded and grinding dust to be removed. Thereafter apply one coat of TEFRO®prime EP 30. Interval time between TEFRO®prime EP 30 and coating TEFROKA PU-1-L is maximum 24 hours.
Mixing
Prior to application stir up component A thoroughly. Then mix component A and B in the supplied mixing ratio using a suitable hand mixing device (>1000 W and approx. 300-400 r/min.). Add component B to component A and mix until a homogeneous consistency is reached (approx. 2 - 3 minutes). Observe to mix slowly. Stir up thoroughly bottom and sides to ensure complete distribution of the hardener. Then re-pot the mix and mix again. Now the corresponding quantity of TEFROKA® KH-Filler is added portionwise and homogeneously mix again.
The mixing ratio is approx 1 : 6 parts by weight, viz.
19,5 kg/unit TEFROKA® PU-1-L and 117 kg (ca. 4,5 bags) TEFROKA® KH-Filler
9,1 kg/unit TEFROKA® PU-1-L und 54,6 kg (ca. 2 Sack) TEFROKA® KH-Filler
Application
Apply by spatula a kind of slurry coat made of unfilled TEFROKA PU-1-L material (consumption: approx. 0.5 kg/m²), the mortar is then applied into the slurry coat, distributed in the desired thickness, compressed and rubbed off using a float or smoothing trowel.
Scratch coat / closing of pores
After hardening overnight apply a thin scratch coat on top of the mortar surface made of TEFROKA PU-1-L plus thickening agent SYLOTHIX (mixing by drilling machine plus stirrer) in order to close the pores. The thickening agent is added to the resin/hardener mix and homogeneously stirred in.
Quantity thickening agent to be added: 6.25 g SYLOTHIX 51 per 1 kg mixed TEFROKA PU-1-L.
High temperatures shorten, low temperatures extend the working time and have an influence to the viscosity.
Maximum time interval per coat is approx. 24 hours (+ 20 °C).
At temperatures of atmosphere and object below + 8 °C the material may not be used (observe dew point temperature).
High relative humidity (> 80 %) and humidity in general especially from the substructure may lead to reduced adhesion.
Different applications to be discussed with us!
Coverage mortar: approx. 7.9 m² per unit (19,5 kg of PU plus 4.5 bags of filler)
Consumption mortar: approx. 11.3 kg/m²/mm
Consumption scratch coat: approx. 0.5 kg/m²
At temperatures of 15 - 25 °C the area is ready for foot traffic after min. 3 hours, ready for strain after 24 hours.
Subsequent application of ceramic tile coverings to be done after 48 hours (at 20 °C, 5 mm thickness)
Subsequent application of vapour diffusion-tight synthetic floor coverings or synthetic resin floor coverings to be done after 24 hours (at 20 °C, 5 mm thickness).
Read relevant safety data sheets! Operating instructions e.g. PU 40 of BG Bau apply.
Behavior rules
Working at fresh air supply! Spatial separation and marking of working space / common rooms only as far as necessary. Do not leave pails opened! Avoid splashing during decanting / mixing of the components. Limit stock quantity to the thickness demand.
Absolutely avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing! Precautionarily apply protective cream in order to facilitate cleaning of skin. Product residues on skin to be removed using suitable cleaning agent, under no circumstances use solvents! At the end of work and before each break clean your hands thoroughly. Use protective cream! Change contaminated clothing. At the end of work change clothing! Store working clothes separately from street wear! Observe employment restrictions!
Protective measures
Eye protection: Googles.
Respiratory protection: Use respiratory mask with filter of category A2/P2.
Hand protection: Especially observe hand protection, ingredients can enter the body through the skin! Gloves made of butyl rubber. It is recommended to wear cotton gloves below protective gloves.
Skin protection: Use low fat or fat free protective cream for all uncovered parts of the body.
Body protection: Wear working clothes. During mixing wear (disposble) chemical protection suit or protective trousers.
First aid measures
With every first aid measure: Observe self protection and seek medical help immediately
After eye contact: Rinse for 10 minutes under running water with the eyelids held wide open or use eyewash solution. Always consult an eye specialist.
After skin contact: Take off heavily contanimated clothing. Wash with plenty of soap and water. Do not use solvents!
After inhalation: Fresh air!
If swallowed: Do not induce vomitting! Drink plenty of water in small sips!
