Floor Layers lay carpets, linoleum, PVC, cork and other floorings, e.g. laminate or parquet flooring in offices, hospitals, public buildings as well as in industrial buildings. Floor layers plan and coordinate their work, determine material requirements and transport the materials to the constructions site. Before laying, Floor Layers examine the surface of the ground and level it, if necessary. They cut und glue the flooring on the underground. Flexible floorings, like plastic plates, may need to be welded thermally or chemically or calked. After finishing their work, Floor Layers clean the floorings. Duration of apprenticeship: 3 years Prerequisites: CSE or secondary school graduation with school grade 3 or better in the major subjects. back
