The effectiveness and duration of protection provided by anti-corrosive coatings extremely depends on the correct preparation of the surface. The surface must be cleaned during the preparation stage as defined by the application standard and must allow good adhesion of the coating to the surface. Consequently, it is very important to chose the appropriate surface preparation for the coating used.

We carry out the following substrate preparation works:

  • Compressed air blasting

  • Wet jet blasting

  • Closed-circuit jet blasting

  • Airless blast cleaning

  • Suction head jet blasting

  • Super-pressure water jet cleaning

  • Grinding, machine or manual

  • Pickling

  • Dry ice cleaning

All of the above mentioned methods are in accordance with and accepted by all leading paint-manufacturers.

Dry ice cleaning – one of the latest cleaning and blasting technologies – has been introduced by GTF worldwide for the first time on large surfaces. In certain areas, this very modern technique is far superior to conventional methods:

Subsequent problems such as abrasion by abrasive blast grains or costs for the disposal of contaminated blast grains do not occur. Downtimes are minimized, since cost-intensive cooling and warm up periods are not necessary and cleaning can take place without dismantling.
