25.02.2011 - GTF deck coverings for Royal Navy aircraft carriers
The new UK QEC Royal Navy aircraft carriers, HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales, are
expected to enter service in 2016 and 2018. QEC will displace 65,000t, a size between the USA's
100,000t Nimitz Class and the French 43,000t Charles de Gaulle Class aircraft carriers. Each ship
will have a complement of typically 1,200, including 600 aircrew.
GTF started now delivery of M.O.D. approved light-weight deck covering materials for the
vessels with an overall length of 284 m and overall beam of 73 m. Same materials were already
installed on T-45 destroyers during the past years.
